Someone I've written about for a good 2 years or so.....

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2026/01/16/...

"Here's Andy Beshear's Case for President
The Kentucky governor is laying out an early argument for why he could be Democrats’ be"

My biggest fear is --- he would be the Republican John Kasich --someone with track record, knowledge, decency AND national electability.....but he's too civil and too nice to attract an angry primary voter.

Which sucks.

The man wins twice in a red state and the second time ---increases his percentage in the most Trumpiest counties.

If he was nominated.

And the YogsMomYelpPeople didn't force him to do the pronoun bullshit.... it would be a 320+ electoral win, a 53-54% popular win. And 1 or 2 large transformative pieces of legislation would be passed...with perhaps 60+ votes in the senate meaning some Red guys would come along for the ride.

I've not bothered to see the primary calendar. But New Hampshire is the last bastion of intelligent voters.... and man I hope he visits with them open the porches and in the diners. If he can get #2, or #1.... and then in South Carolina, the GOP-Ailes-Bush machine (quiet, not dead) doesn't ambush him....it would be a wonderful world.

Moments when I get weak, and I want what's good........ this fella comes to mind. There's others (Rahm Emanuel. Shapiro. Some others) but Governor Beshear would be electable, nationally, and maaaaaaaybe be a speed bump as you people try hard to become Sunnis and Shias and Croats and Serbs.

Such a short time ago, but a century of time in terms of the shifting political landscape.

Unlike during the political moment of John Kasich, today’s political environment favors state leaders with a track record of looking out for and being respected by the citizens of their own states.

Andy Beshear checks those boxes.

As it happens, I drove over to the local GOP HQ in Livonia to hear Kasich speak, when he was running for POTUS. I rather liked him. Of course he showed a functioning brain. He didn't resort to pushing the buttons of the worst among us.

************

I hope you are right and the key here in your statement is --- shifting landscape.

I admittedly don't watch day to day so I don't feel my finger is in pulse nevertheless, my snapshot:

60% I feel the Dem primary voter is angry. Wants someone "who will stick it to MAGA" because "I'm tired of being bullied by MAGA"

40% I feel the Dem primary voter will say "I just want normalcy again"

My wish: The Dem Primary voter would harness ALL of those sentiments and ask "who is best suited to WIN" and I just have a doubt on that one.

I think Beshear refers to the "renewal" sentiment in the party and he's banking on that, versus being the candidate who tweets and punches trump in the mouth all the time (think AOC, Gavin)

All I know is this: If I'm Karl Rove. KellyAnne. Lee Atwater. If I'm Jedi on TMF: Fairly or not, I could Willioe Horton the shit out of Gavin. I predicted it would happen to Harris---it DID. I could tie every freaking illegal alien thing to Gavin.

Beshear? WTF am I gonna do? Whine that he helped a rural health center? That he built a needed hospital in a black neighborhood?

If I was a Rightie ....I'd hate to go against Beshear.

My fear: Beshear, Rahm, and others will split the "normalcy" vote. AND then -- with a plurality of the vote ----the Progressives will take the nomination.

That's how Trump did it in 2016---- multiple establishment guys split the normalcy vote. Trump, via plurality took the "we're sick of this shit" vote.

You have faith in the voter.

Mine is all but gone.

Indeed.

But to angry tribals - Kasich is an enemy.

Trump was the messiah.

I am openly asking - is that still the case? Is rationality and track record and pragmatism -- a "plus"? Or must candidates be ideologically pure, and be willing to be mean and loud and angry?

I wanted to like John Kasich when he ran (in 2012, was it?). But he came off as a scold and quickly fizzled out.

Beshear is from Kentucky, which means that automatically the coastal set in the democrat party will dismiss him as an inbred bumpkin since bigotry and prejudice are their Tourette's response to anything not from New York or LA.

But unlike 99% of his party he seems like a decent guy playing for the wrong team.

Umm.

President Barack Obama: Chicago, Illinois

President Bill Clinton: Little Rock, Arkansas

President Jimmy Carter: Plains, Georgia

President Lyndon B. Johnson: Stonewall, Texas

Wilmington, Delaware isn't exactly swarming in "coastal elites," either.

Yeah, good point.

Dope1,

Beshear is a white male and evidently heterosexual. He's completely unqualified to be the Dem nominee in 2028.

Could he play for the Right team?

Right now I'm not sure President Reagan could. George W would be shunned

I'm not current on whose-who in campaign staff anymore. I've lost such respect for that game (the favorite game of my whole life) when the tech was passed to 30 something cockgobblers who only knew about likes and retweets and InstaShit.

I miss the days. Ed Rollins, Karl Rove, James Carville, Mickey Kantor, Paul Begala, Satan Lee Atwater, shit even Hamilton Jordan. Heck even David Axelrod I'll toss in there.

ChatNPC is running short on active brain cells. Of course, he might actually believe that today's democrat party is the same as LBJ's.

I'll provide a hint: LBJ hated Communists. Today's democrats? Many of them *are* Communists.

Dope1: ChatNPC is running short on active brain cells.

Ya' know, you wouldn't sound like such a moron if you'd just say, "Yeah, I kinda' f*cked that up."

I went back to LBJ because he was in line, looking backward, and every one of the last five democratic presidents have not come from the 'elite' coast, either east or west, as you so smugly exclaimed.

Man, you've gotta' go all the way back to JFK to find a coastal elite and that's <checks notes> over 60 years ago.

Clearly, democratic voters are smarter than you.

It's not the Right Wing Sound Machine,

it's the Left Wing B.S. Brainwashing Machine.

Kamala Harris was selected as V.P. because she is a non-white non-male.

Ketanji Brown Jackson was selected to the Supreme Court because she is a non-white non-male.

A white male has NO CHANCE, ZERO, of being the Dem Nominee in 2028.

If you don't understand that, you are truly clueless.

Where do you find this Left Wing BS Brainwashing Machine?

I saw something similar to what you describe back in about 2020. But it’s pretty much gone and it never was as ALL POWERFUL as you seem to think it was.

Tren de Agua must be pumping it out from their secret transmitters in Venezuela.

Today's democrats? Many of them *are* Communists.

You are making up bullshit.

Communist Party USA (CPUSA): This is a separate political party with an estimated 15,000 members as of late 2024. It is not a faction of the Democratic Party.

Basically there are virtually no communists in the Democratic Party.

But we know there are quite a few real Nazis in the Trump right wing, and many more that could fairly be called fascists.

The Commies are in full control of the Democrat Party.

Do you really think there are enough Democratic Socialists to elect ANYONE to any political office, much less Mayor of NYC?

If so, you're a fool.

Just another in the endless string of MAGA confessions disguised as accusations.

They all know there is a right wing brainwashing machine, so the assume there must be a left wing one, too.
