Wendy,
This shopping till you drop reminds me of a college story on a wannabe bar owner.
I was working in Houston during my college days as a waiter. The restaurant was off campus on a parallel avenue, a block away. The owner was 23 y/o. His father had shot a man in Chicago, so he could not hold ownership of the bar. The kid owned it for his Dad.
The kid, Nick, decided to open another bar off campus for the students. The UofH only had 5000 students on campus. The second bar was to be in a ghetto.
None of us went to his new bar. No one knew or cared if they did know.
Come the weekend, Nick offered free beer on Saturday. This time, 100s of college students showed up and drank his bar dry.
Again, a boring week, and no one showed up to drink.
So come the 2nd weekend, he offered free beer a second time. The college students showed up.
He went out of business on that Monday.
