https://www.npr.org/2025/02/13/nx-s1-5296928/layof...Federal workers have begun receiving layoff notices as the Trump administration moves ahead with plans to drastically downsize the government.
While the full scale of layoffs isn't yet clear, the first round of cuts appeared to target employees who were recently hired and still on probationary status, according to multiple federal officials and staffers who spoke to NPR on condition of anonymity, because they were not authorized to speak to the press and feared retaliation from the Trump administration.
The firings are affecting a wide swath of federal workers, and include employees responsible for education, small business grants, and the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile.

Two hundred thousand. Wow. Well, unemployment is going to go up. Biden fixed that during his four years, and now the Felon is going to trash it. Well, that will be ammo for the next campaign ("unemployment went up during his tenure...both terms!!").
Less federal workers...less services, less consumer protection, less security (e.g. the nuclear weapons)...what could go wrong?

See folks? Liberals feel that government hiring - is real "employment".
PS: 200,000 will have to deal with *real* jobs now. LOL some of them are in for an ass whipping, long overdue. When they are at their desk wolfing down something from a fast food bag, and answering work emails at night, and told to come in on a Sunday- they'll know :) Gosh I am so mad I'm not in DC anymore I'd love to see all of this happen. Texting with a buddy I used to work with and he's telling me that it's not rampant - but there's pockets of people trying to come to grips that their job and benefits - aren't an entitlement and aren't eternal.

Yup.
Pay 1 guy to dig a ditch. Pay another guy to fill in the ditch the first guy dug. Yay, employment!
The lack of understanding of even the most basic of things on this board and on the media is nothing short of astonishing.

Don't forget holidays!

I don't "feel" it. I know it.
Don't know how old you are, but if you get a SS check every month, thank government employees. Just as a "for example". Any large organization (company or government or charity) will have some underperforming workers. But most are trying to do their jobs the best they can. And many are overwhelmed because there isn't enough staff to handle the load efficiently, which is why you end up with long wait times (whether local DMV, or federal VA, or whatever).

Another erroneous and asinine statement from the Dope.
