Kicking China, Russia and Iran out of this hemisphere is the goal.
Pushing China out of the entire hemisphere would be a big lift.
from the net sifter, when asked "countries in South America whose largest trading partner is China?"
Answer:
Key Countries & Their Relationship with China:
Brazil: China has been Brazil's largest trading partner for over a decade, a major export destination for its soybeans, iron ore, and oil.
Chile: As the world's top copper producer, Chile sends a significant portion of its copper to China, its largest global trading partner, under a Free Trade Agreement.
Peru: China is Peru's largest trading partner, with exports of copper, iron, and animal feed increasing significantly since their FTA was signed.
Uruguay: China is also listed as Uruguay's largest trading partner.
Argentina: China is a huge buyer of Argentina's agricultural products, solidifying its role as a key partner.
According to the Wiki entry on Argentine trade, China ranks 4th, behind Brazil, the US, and Chile.
What would the US offer the countries in the "southern cone", that China doesn't? Abuse, threats, and jive?

China's "Gifts" include predatory loans and Chinese control of your economy. We're many things, but we're not near that level of scuzzball.

I don't see that as a worthwhile goal. It's myopic. If you want to do that, do it where it's almost free. Create a department of reserves and map out reserves needed and take an approach that allows our supply chains to thrive for a hundred years. Also, take an approach where the US owns part of the business and profits from it. That's worked well for Norway and if we manage it, it can work well for us. We don't even have to be brilliant and it can work for us.

Only a delusional, highly privileged, old Leftist a-hole would prefer China to the United States.
I.E. someone who never has to worry about actually living under Chinese domination.
