You May Be Eligible For Canadian Citizenship Under New Rules — What To Know
“Bill C-3, An Act to Amend the Citizenship Act (2025)” went into effect December 15, 2025. Welcoming “lost” Canadians, the law establishes that Canada will no longer enforce its previously upheld “first-generation” limit in some situations, which impacted eligibility for citizenship by descent. The change does not apply universally and eligibility still depends on individual circumstances.
Those born or adopted before December 15, 2025, outside of Canada to a Canadian parent may, in most cases, automatically be considered Canadian under the new law.https://travelnoire.com/canadian-citizenship-law-b...When my father was born, in PA, his parents had not yet become US citizens, so dad would have been a Canadian by birth. He was a minor, when his parents were naturalized. He is listed on his parent's naturalization certificate. But, I don't have Canadian birth certificates for his parents.
Doesn't matter really. Trump, or his successors, will find a way to loot Canada too.
