For a long time, republicans liked to say "Wake me up when someone is charged with seditious conspiracy."
Four members of the Proud Boys, including their former leader Enrique Tarrio, were convicted on Thursday of seditious conspiracy for plotting to keep President Donald J. Trump in power after his election defeat by leading a violent mob in attacking the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
They were also found guilty of conspiring to obstruct the certification of the election. The four defendants, along with Dominic Pezzola, were convicted of another conspiracy count as well, which accused them of interfering with the duties of members of Congress that day.
Nine Oath Keepers have already been found guilty of seditious conspiracy.

Yes, it strains common sense to believe that these "seditionists" actually intended to accomplish the goal of taking over our government, being unarmed and so few in number. They could however disrupt proceedings and interrupt the orderly process of government. But that is excusable, just ask the three Tennessee congressmen.

Not if you've been following. The object was to create chaos and prevent certification. The loose plan was to cause the election to be thrown into the 12th amendment, which is where each state gets one vote. Trump would have enough votes that way. The fake electors appeared to be another way, maybe they coincided. But the object was to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power and to disregard the will of the people expressed in the election, thwart the transfer, and have Trump declared President.
