Some of their previous claims,
Of course. There's Tesla Semi, of course. So, we'll be handing over our first production Tesla Semis to Pepsi on December 1. I'll be there in person.
And we will begin ramping up production of the Tesla Semi, which is a max low, heavy -- a heavy truck. That's a Class A truck, Class A truck.
[...]
As I think everyone knows at this point, it takes about a year to ramp up production. So, we expect to see significant -- we're tentatively aiming for 50,000 units in 2024 for Tesla Semi in North America. And obviously, we'll expand beyond North America. And these would sell -- I don't want to say the exact prices, but they're much more than a passenger vehicle. - Elon Musk in 2022 Q3 call (

We are the only Company in the world producing our own vehicles and batteries, as well as our own in-house chip for full self-driving. We're in a position unlike anyone else in the industry. And in 2020, we expect to have 1 million robotaxis on the road with the hardware necessary for full self-driving. We believe we'll have the most profitable autonomous taxi on the market and perhaps the -- yeah - Elon Musk in 2019 Q1 call (

Musk has accomplished incredible things, but he is also a serial fabulist. I am leaving out other examples of his failures to deliver, like the second Roadster, FSD performance, and insurance. He had the gall to mention Pepsi in this call, when they haven't even been delivered 64 of the 100 semis they pre-paid Tesla for in 2017.
In this call he made similar 1-2 year out 7 figure production estimates like the ones he's usually incorrect about, regarding the taxi. He also said the 4680 was back on track, and I would beware of this.
https://www.theverge.com/2024/7/17/24200510/teslas... indicates he gave an ultimatum to the battery team, and I suspect he is basing his update on what his middle management told him under pressure.
For the 800 pound gorilla,
One way to think of the progress of a civilization, this may sound a little esoteric, but is percentage completion of scale. So, [Inaudible] scale, one would be you're using all the power of a planet. We're currently less than 1% on Level 1. Level 2 would be using all the power of the sun, and Level 3, all of power of the galaxy, so we've got a long way to go, long way to go.Musk is wealthy enough to have people use him or be afraid to say no to him. Someone needs to tell Musk his ketamine usage seems to be problematic. His answers around semi truck speed and Castle Doombad were not normal things to say. Things like
Yeah. It's like there should be the heroes who got 20% cost out of the cars. It's like damn, I have a lot of respect for them. I think you probably could make a compelling movie, but it just -- like if you actually saw how hard -- if people actually saw how hard it was to do that, you'd be like, wow, that's damn hard. Yeah. I mean, honestly, literally. Yeah. I mean, there's a lot of -- when I do go sort of like getting cost out of things, it's kind of like -- it's like Game of Penny. So, it's like Game of Thrones but pennies. are not normal things to say. The continued comments about the next gen Roadster being a flying car are not normal.
I am not sure he's well and I don't know how that impacts the investment thesis. I am not short TSLA, nor do I want to be short. They are nice cars and the world needs EVs and storage. The US would benefit from Tesla's success.
