Elon Musk’s Walk With Jesus:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/elon-musk-s-w...Elon Musk is publicly offering his own interpretation of Jesus’ teachings with an Old Testament twist.
“Christianity has become toothless,” the billionaire posted recently on his X social-media platform. “Unless there is more bravery to stand up for what is fair and right, Christianity will perish.”Hmm. I can see Musk being like Trump - pretend to like Christianity and Christians, but not make an attempt to practice the faith, use it for political and economic gain.
I don't think Musk would want to submit to authority. Not likely to be like JD Vance and convert to Catholicism.

Xianity needs to perish. So does Islam. And Judaism. The Abrahamic traditions need to wither and die. And it is happening, at varying rates, in many countries. Several European nations are around 80% non-believer, and even the US has gone from less than 10% to more than 35% just in my lifetime.
I once heard the phrase "the internet: where religions go to die". And I think there is some truth to that. People used to have very small social circles in this country, and you didn't really get diversity of opinions and philosophies. The internet opened all that up, and people in ever-increasing numbers are realizing it's all BS. It's factually wrong in almost every claim that can be verified, it's internally inconsistent, and it relies on a number of logical fallacies to believe any of it.
I doubt it will completely perish ever, but if we can get about 90% worldwide, that's probably good enough.

Sure, I agree. In the meantime we have to live with it, with the richest person in the world writing stuff like this to his millions of followers:
“Unless there is more bravery to stand up for what is fair and right, Christianity will perish.”
(With the clear implication that this would be a bad thing).
Also, commenting on the recent riots in the uk, where white thugs attacked Muslims:
“Civil war is inevitable”.
That’s pretty scary.
Talking with a cycling friend yesterday on a ride, he said if Harris wins he fears what will happen, people might start shooting this time. I asked who will they be shooting? Police? Soldiers? He had no good answer. The hated ones, I guess, “them”. Liberals? Democrats? Non-Christians? Non-whites?
This friend recently bought an AR15 and 1000 rounds, to defend his family from, you know, “them”.

Given the bizarre divergence between the Old and New Testaments, how do you practice such a faith?
Hmm. I can see Musk being like Trump - pretend to like Christianity and Christians, but not make an attempt to practice the faith, use it for political and economic gain.
It's like a menu of options, just choose the ones that suit you and your worldview.
Like the preacher who used to scream over the only radio station I could get in remote southern Utah in the 1970s: "OUR GOD IS A GOD OF WAR!" Etc. He chose what he liked from the Old Testament. And Jesus...meh.

Paranoia.
Ask him what he will do with the bodies that pile up outside his house.

Ask him what he will do with the bodies that pile up outside his house Probably strap them to his car and drive around for hours showing them off to passersby, like RFK seems to like to do. Highly publicized, his escapade with a dead bear. Not so well know, when he chainsawed the head of a washed-up-on-the-beach whale, and strapped it onto his car for a 5 hour jaunt home.
Kick Kennedy described how her father found a whale that had washed up dead on Squaw Island, a Massachusetts beach. According to her, RFK Jr ran down the beach with a chain saw, cut off the whale's head and bungee-corded it to the roof of the family minivan ….
The family then drove five hours back to Mount Kisco, New York, with the whale on the roof. "Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet," said Kick Kennedy. https://apple.news/AOFI8MM2KSHCu_MNRt5GxDA

There's about 350,000 churches in the USA. It's likely they have something figured out.
Now, they can't agree on everything, of course, so there's thousands of variations of "the one, true faith".
What most of them do agree on is who the enemies are, and, back to the thread subject, the richest man in the world with a huge megaphone agrees with 'em.

He's out in the country so it's probably not an issue.
Here, my HOA would definitely complain.

HOAs are a PITA. They go around counting shrubs vs trees, making sure you have the right mix. They monitor your weeds, dead bodies in your yard, etc. You'll get a nasty letter.

Yeah, but on the other hand we’re not allowed to put up political signs. All the trumpers here have to put their flags in the back of their garages. It makes a stroll around the neighborhood nicer. Unless there’s too many dead bodies to step over, of course. That’s a nuisance.

Yeah, weird. When we went from thousands of gods to just one, you’d think there would be a correct way to worship. Instead, there are more ways to worship “it” than there used to be gods to worship.
Odd, don’t you think?

HOAs are a PITA. They go around counting shrubs vs trees, making sure you have the right mix. They monitor your weeds, dead bodies in your yard, etc. You'll get a nasty letter. Not mine. Where I live is a very “hands off” HOA. There are still minimum rules, like having architectural changes approved and not parking overnight on the street, but you can even do that for a week before anyone will complain about it. (One guy parked his cement mixer there for a while but was eventually asked to park it elsewhere.)
Otherwise it’s mostly an association for an annual party or two, and maybe a ways to resolve minor issues.
but on the other hand we’re not allowed to put up political signs I’m pretty sure that if taken to court that rule would be overturned. There are some things HOAs can and cannot do, and taking away the right to “freedom of speech”, especially in politics, is likely one of them.
I recall when HOA rules against satellite dishes were declared invalid by the FCC. Stroke of a pen, rules abolished.
Well. Reading here:
https://hub.associaonline.com/blog/hoa-political-s...It seems that in some states they can prohibit. In others they can regulate (size, number, days before election, etc.) And in others, do whatever you want. I still wonder if it could survive a court treat at the USSC.

Yeah, they probably can't prohibit political signs on private property. They can on HOA property ("common areas").
And, yes, they cannot prohibit satellite dishes or ham radio antennae. They do not have the power to restrict someone's ability to receive information. 1poormom was on the board of an HOA when that ruling was made, and a few residents then put up dishes. HOA tried to coerce them to put them someplace "unseen" from the front of the dwelling, but they couldn't really enforce that.
We have no HOA. There was supposed to be one, but whomever set it up initially screwed up. One neighbor tried to get everyone together to fix it, but only a few were even interested. So we have no HOA. So we can have weeds, any colors we want...but still no dead bodies. The city would have a few issues with that.

In the Philippines most expats would be happy if there was a functioning HOA. Nearly all condo places have one, but they have no force. The HOA and bylaws need to be attached to the contract you sign to be effective. They love cockfights and you can find out that someone is raising fighting cocks on a balcony near you, or no one pays to have the pool cleaned, or there's no guard because no one pays the fee. Political signs are your least worry.

Different situation.
In our neighborhood you really don't need an HOA. We're not a Beverly Hills rich neighborhood, but we all have larger nice homes. Everyone takes care of their property.** The Philippines is trickier because there doesn't seem to be a mechanism for enforcement. Even in the US, you can levy all the fines you want, but I believe in most cases the enforcement comes if you ever try to sell the home (then you have to clear the fines). A lot of time the HOAs are run by a separate management company that can sue you. As I understand it from 1poorlady (Filipina), suing someone in the Philippines seldom gets you anywhere.
**Ours is probably the worst right now because our ground cover is struggling, and so we have some patches of bare dirt in the front. We're trying to fix it, but we may have to replant.

That's true, it takes a long time, and it's tricky. The reason there's no way to enforce the HOA is none of them attach it to the contract, so you would lose in court - the HOA has no force. They don't pay the fee for the guards, so you lose the guard, the grounds and common areas aren't kept up.
Here, you can usually sue someone for interfering with the quiet enjoyment of your home.
