Back when I was a kid, there was a chain of restaurants owned by Horne and Hardart known as "Automats". Been there done that. When I was young and impressionable, there was a Horne and Hardart spoon in the silverware drawer at home. Inquiring how that spoon had traveled from NYC to Kalamazoo, I learned my mom had stolen it from the Automat when my dad took her to NYC, sometime in the early 50s. Way to be a good role model mom!
