James Talarico - rising star in democratic politics and current Senate hopeful for Texas - says there's no mention of either abortion or homosexuality in the Christian Bible. That seems wrong to me. What do the bible scholars here say?

James Talarico - rising star in democratic politics and current Senate hopeful for Texas - says there's no mention of either abortion or homosexuality in the Christian Bible.

He’s a presbyterian seminarian at Austin Theological Seminary in Austin TX. I know a few of his profs, so I’ll go ahead and speak on his behalf………

There are references to homosexuality in the scriptures, but Jesus himself is completely silent on the issue.

The word “abortion” does not appear in either the Jewish or Christian scriptures of the bible, though in the Levitical code (all those sharia type rules about how to live, what to eat and how to settle arguments) there are rules for reimbursing injured parties in a lawsuit- including injuries that lead to a miscarriage or the death of a cow (financial payment for these two injuries are roughly the same).

But Jesus never mentions the issue.

The two most animating issues of today’s MAGA- abortion and homosexuality… are never mentioned by Jesus.
