When visiting Shrewd'm with a laptop, it can be pleasant to hold Command (or Ctrl with Windows) and '+' a few times. The site scales to allow any font size, and the larger font can be pleasant to read even for Shrewds with perfect sight! For luxury Shrewdness, you can combine that with setting the browser to full screen. You'll then find yourself Shrewding a lot.

Google appears to save every query ever made. In fact, there's a book about this which is rather fascinating, "Everybody Lies," by Seth Stephens-Davidowitz.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/0062390864/?bestFormat=t...I have been adding links to Google Gemini searches in my posts in case anyone wants to read the details. Google apparently saves every search.
I just received an e-mail from Google Gemini.
Meet Gemini, your new AI assistant
With Gemini on your Android device, you can get help writing, learning, creating, and getting more done—even complex tasks. Go hands-free and have a natural, free-flowing voice conversation with Gemini Live1 to brainstorm ideas or talk things out. Learn more about what you can do with Gemini.
Gemini uses info from your devices and services to help you
Gemini uses this info to provide more customized and context-aware help. For example, Gemini accesses certain system permissions and data, like call and message logs, and your contacts (to help you keep in touch by sending messages or calling), and
information visible on your screen or accessible within the apps (to help you act on it).
Gemini works with apps With your permission, Gemini can respond with info from other tools, apps, and services
like Google Keep and YouTube. To allow connected apps to generate helpful responses,
Gemini shares some of your info with them. You can manage your apps in your settings.
...
Gemini activity and your choices
Your chats, what you share with Gemini (like files, videos, screens, and photos),
audio, transcripts, and recordings of your Gemini Live interactions, your feedback,
info from websites you visit with Gemini, product usage, and location info are
saved in Gemini Apps Activity (if your Keep Activity setting is on). This data is
reviewed by trained service providers and used to improve Google services
(including Gemini models and other generative AI models). It's also used to
personalize your experience, depending on your settings and region. When
Google uses your activity to improve its services, it gets help from human reviewers.
To protect your privacy, chats are disconnected from your account before being
sent to service providers for review. You can turn off Keep Activity anytime.
Be sure not to include info you wouldn't want reviewed or used. .. [end quote]
This gives me the heeby-jeebies.

Google generally does not claim ownership of content generated by AI on Google Search, but intellectual property (IP) rights for AI-generated material are complex and still developing legally.
Regarding your question, I use a VPN. Google does not know who is on the other end.

Wendy,
Anything you get for "free" has a cost attached to it. Gemini is currently offered as a free tool, as are a long list of other AIs. Whether you are using them for research, creation, business streamlining, art or whatever, you can bet your bippie that the requests (and the answers) are being retained for future use - whether for anonymous polling or for personalized targeting down the road. Is this a danger? Is it worth the service? That's a question each of us has to personally answer. It doesn't mean that Gemini will attack you, but it is likely, once AIs reach a quantum leap above where they are now, the information may be used to influence you.
There are a large group of existing legacy and brand new companies spending an awful lot of money. They will ALL be interested in monetizing that expenditure.

Once a clanker always a clanker? Kid's jargon for AI or a robot does not work.
The powers currently do that. The mousetrap of the humblest consumer gets bigger.
All the marketers get are compulsive buyers. I am not one of them. I doubt many of you are either.

Good policy. But unless you are logged in, you only get the basic features. Limited to Gemini 2.0, no photo or image processing etc. We somehow all survived without those things, but you don't get the cool stuff.
