And there goes the final, really bad board game that China was going to step in and suck up the European market.

Yeah. No.

At some point the people that post here are going to have to realize that the world is an interconnected system and just be used you people the Trump with the fire of a thousand suns a) your hatred is 1000% irrelevant to the real world and b) other factors always come to play (such as cultural compatibility and geopolitical positioning) and c) see (a). Nobody who matters care what the online left thinks.

We're going to do the following: The European Union is going to agree to purchase from the United States $750 billion worth of energy. They are going to agree to invest into the United States $600 billion more than they're investing already. So they're investing a large amount of money. They've agreed to open up their countries to trade at zero tariff, so that's a very big factor...and they've agreed to purchase a vast amount of military equipment. We are agreeing that the tariff straight across for automobiles and everything else will be a straight-across tariff of 15 percent.

Boom. leftist 🤡 have said they want to hurt Russia while at the same time laughing when it’s pointed out that you don’t really hate Russia if you insist on buying their oil and gas.

See a) above again. Geopolitics matters in trade. And btw if you hate Russia you’re not going to replace the United States with the very outfit that’s bankrolling Putin.

The world is moving in the right direction. The left can continue with the hate campaign all it wants; see c) above. Nobody cares what they think. Irrelevance is something they’ve done to themselves and I’m here for it.

Yes. I *did* vote for this.

No. I *don’t* get tired of winning. Or rubbing noses in it. As Jedi says: you fling insults. We respond with current events.

No be good folks and go try to pick some nits in the deal. When you do, see a) and c) above.

Von der Leyn said:

We have a trade deal between the two largest economies in the world, and it's a big deal. It's a huge deal. It will bring stability. It will bring predictability. That's very important for our businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. It's 15 percent tariffs across the board, all inclusive, the investments that Mr. President just described that are gonna go to the United States...indeed, basically the European market is open. It's 450 million people. So, it's a good deal. It's a huge deal with tough negotiations. I knew it at the beginning, and it was indeed very tough. But, we came to a good conclusion for both sides."

So $750 billion energy purchase over 3 years is the equivalent of purchasing 10 million bbl per day.

Hmm, as the U.S. produces about 13 million a day and uses 10 million, they need to bring a lot more production on and complete a lot of Lng plants in the next few weeks.

Obviously you have no idea how long it takes to drill a well and bring it on production or to construct an LNG plant.

So how many wells do you think it takes to produce 10 million bbl per day?

Dope1: Fortunately we have a phrase for that: Drill, baby! Drill!

The U.S. rig count has fallen to its lowest level in nearly four years, 539 on July 3, lower than the number of rigs operating on October 15, 2021, which was 543. And with crude oil at $65/barrel, oil producers ain't interested in drilling unprofitable wells.

"Dope1: Fortunately we have a phrase for that: Drill, baby! Drill!"

Trump did a lot of drillin underage 14 year old girls, so I
can't tell if Drill Baby Drill is referring to oil wells or
young teenage girls.

Welp, if we’d had a real President these last 4 years instead of Weekend at Bernie’s we’d be way further along.

Fortunately, there’s no time like the present.

I guess they're right: ya' can't fix stupid:

President Joe Biden has approved nearly 50 percent more oil and gas drilling permits for wells on federal land since taking office than former President Donald Trump did in his first three years, according to newly released data from the Interior Department.

Trump has sought to cast Biden’s climate and clean energy policies as choking off U.S. oil and gas production, although output of both of those fuels reached record levels last year.

Rasmus Jarlov @RasmusJarlov former Minister of Trade in Denmark

There is nothing to celebrate. Moving from average tariffs of less than 2% on trade between the USA and Europe to 15% under today’s deal will inevitably lead to inflation. Almost everything will become more expensive in both Europe and the USA, and we will all be worse off. The economic illiteracy in the White House is doing serious damage to the West.

A couple quick points:
1) Apparently our MAGA friends are having trouble grasping what "seek to buy" means. Let’s try it another way. I "seek to" get hired as CEO of Goldman Sachs.

2) Selling more to the EU doesn't change global demand, it likely just means selling less to others.

3) The energy goes there with zero tariffs, while we pay 15% for things coming here!

4) Trump will do a lot of harm by charging Americans a 15% (or higher) import tax.

5) Viewing the results of these trade deals, it is becoming clear how Trump managed to go bankrupt 6 times...

We've gone over this. Pay closer attention.

Automakers will pay 50% tariffs on imported steel and 25% tariffs on imported auto parts in order to build those cars in Alabama, South Carolina, and Tennessee... but only 15% tariffs to import the whole damn cars into the United States.

Sheesh.

The link was intended to take you to this paragraph, but it broke.

In 1787, at 14, Hemings accompanied Jefferson's daughter to Paris where they joined Thomas Jefferson. In Paris, Hemings was legally free, as slavery was not legal in France. At some time during her 26 months in Paris, Jefferson is believed to have begun intimate relations with her. As attested by her son, Madison Hemings, Sally agreed with Jefferson that she would return to Virginia and resume her life in slavery, as long as all their children would be freed when they came of age.

Seems some of the European press isn't pleased:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/07/28/ho...
All-inclusive deals are designed to take the hassle out of a holiday, albeit at a price.
But while Ursula von der Leyen claimed her “15pc across-the-board, all-inclusive” trade agreement with Donald Trump was a bargain, everyone else in Europe was left feeling they’d been massively ripped off .
The president of the European Commission smiled through gritted teeth as she announced the deal, which was quickly criticised across the Continent by politicians, economists and business leaders alike.
French prime minister François Bayrou branded the “submission” by Brussels as a “dark day” for Europe, while Viktor Orbán, Hungary’s prime minister, said Von der Leyen had been “eaten for breakfast” by the US president.

And for the fans of Brexit...

Brexit dividend
A blanket 15pc tariff means Brussels has struck a worse deal with the US than the UK, with tariffs of 10pc.
Jonathan Reynolds, the Business Secretary, said there was “no doubt” the difference was down to Brexit.
“I’m absolutely clear, this is a benefit of being out of the European Union, having our independent trade policy, absolutely no doubt about that,” he told Good Morning Britain.
