It's always a joy to listen to Warren!
And how nice it is to be reminded that in a world where so many scoundrels and promoters seek to take advantage of those who mistakenly trust them with
their savings, I am fortunate enough to be invested in a wonderful business run by an honest, intelligent, trustworthy, gentleman, Warren Buffett.
A few highlights for me:
"One of the great pleasures, it is the great pleasure actually in this business, is having people trust you. That’s really why I work at 94 when I’ve got more money than anybody could count.
Both Charlie and I just enjoyed the fact that people trusted us."
"At 94 years of age, I’ve been able to drink whatever I like and do what I want and I’ve defied all the predictions of what should’ve happened to me."
"Once you get to 115, it’s almost a cinch you’re going to die. Especially if you’re male. All the records are held by females. I even tried to get Charlie to have a sex change so he could touch the top.
And he did pretty well for being a male."
"The United States has transformed since my birth in 1930. We’ve faced numerous challenges, including significant recessions, World Wars, and the creation of the atomic bomb,
which was unimaginable at the time of my birth. Therefore, I wouldn’t allow myself to feel disheartened."
"People have emotions, but you’ve got to check them at the door when you invest."
"Trade should not be a weapon, I do think that the more prosperous the rest of the world becomes, it won’t be at our expense, the more prosperous we’ll become, and the safer we’ll feel,
and your children will feel someday."
"Tariffs can be an act of war, and I think it’s led to bad things. Just the attitudes it’s brought out. In the United States, I mean, we should be looking to trade with the rest of the world
and we should do what we do best and they should do what they do best."
"The luckiest moment of my life was the day I entered this world, especially because I was born in the United States.
If I were being born today, I’d just keep negotiating in the womb until they said I could be in the US."
"I think a happy person lives longer than somebody that's doing some things they don't really admire much in life."
"We have made a lot of money by not wanting to be fully invested at all times."
"If it concerns you that your stocks have dropped by 15%, it may be time to reevaluate your investment strategy."
"Berkshire's future looks brighter under Greg than under me."
"It doesn't have anything to do with money, but you can be kind — and the world is better off. I'm not sure that the world will be better off if I'm richer."
Great stuff! Thank you Warren, you're the best!

Good morning old pal. Other than Buffett stepping down, did you hear much that was new and non-redundant? Enlighten those of us who got bored and moved on from the meeting, what did the UNstable genius, learn that he can share with an old buddy? Thank you, ucmtsu.

"We have made a lot of money by not wanting to be fully invested at all times."
Currently trying this out. Might as well give it go for a few years given that it worked so well for Warren and Charlie.

Other than Buffett stepping down, did you hear much that was new and non-redundant? Enlighten those of us who got bored and moved on from the meeting...
I attend the meetings not so much to learn new stuff, although it's nice when it happens, but more to immerse myself in the old tried-and-true lessons it's so vital to be reminded of every so often. If you're blessed to be so enlightened that those lessons bore you, you're well beyond me in wisdom.

“ If you're blessed to be so enlightened that those lessons bore you, you're well beyond me in wisdom.“ If you u joyed it I am very happy for you. The questions from the crowd should be pre approved and someone other than Becky should choose our questions. It’s like watching Hannity interview Trump or The View question Harris, it’s become embarrassing. Substantive issues could be addressed, but never are. I’ll predict that this opinion will get fewer than 5 likes, I’m heart broken, again. ☮️

in addition to above on trade, my favorite for the current environment :
On Risk:
The biggest thing we have to worry about is that we've learned to destroy the world.
We have changed the world enormously, but we have not changed human beings very much.
Make sure the cathedral is not taken over by the casino.
On spending:
It's easier to do stupid things with other peoples' money than it is with your own.
On deficits:
If you picked a way to mess up the U.S., it would involve the currency.
On currency inflation:
Those who trust their government get screwed.
On healthcare regulation:
The tapeworm won.
On America
We don't want a world where 330 million Americans are crowing about 'winning' while the rest of the world is upset about it.
