Seems I have to correct several misconceptions I had. Apparently AI is far more revolutionary than I thought. And contrary to what I thought it's not a threat but an opportunity for SAP and they are well positioned to take full advantage of it.
I was told it will last/take another 4-5 years of several waves until all the advantages will have finally reached the last end customers.
And what I was told re the acceleration of AI just within the last 1/2 year is simply astonishing. He gave me examples of that acceleration in the last months I could never imagine. Itīs not a straight line at all.
Btw, for him the fear that many programmers will loose their jobs, is a distorted perspective, saying that itīs more a generational change. That there are quite a number of programmers who have an aversion, simply don't want to use the new tools the way they could, and that they are replaced by a new generation coming from the universities.
P.S.: While my guy, being in the business, saw all this only positive, me, always the skeptic, after what I was told see "Terminator" at the gates far closer than before.
