Well, it is science. A new study has indicated that every year you spend in school increases your longevity. It's not clear to me how they accounted for demography (e.g. wealthier people can afford to stay in school longer, and also can afford better food and healthcare). Still interesting.

What I find particularly striking is that this study reviewed data from countries across the globe. So that includes countries with and without universal healthcare, etc. What's frustrating though is that there's no source for the announcement of this study's results. It hasn't been published, because there's no journal citation. Was it presented at a meeting? Nothing said. This tends to make me hesitant to place a lot of confidence in their conclusions yet. So it's a wait and see.

It was published in the Lancet on Jan 23. There's a link to the study, and it was published as "public access" (so you don't have to pay to see it). The Lancet is an excellent medical journal, peer-reviewed.
