1poormom had dementia. I saw it up close. While it is iffy to diagnose a person remotely (plus I'm not a neurologist), I've been saying for years that I thought he had it. As has been said many times here, a war isn’t over until both sides agree it’s over, or one side is completely incapable of continuing.
In spite of Trump’s baseless declarations, Iran is fully capable of continuing the fight. And they have not agreed to stop. So the war continues.

What the MAGA dumbasses do not get is this is exactly what we were trying to tell them about Ukraine. In the modern age, it is really difficult (and expensive) to conquer a country if The People of that country do not want to be ruled by the conquering attacker. Asymmetric warfare is a real thing and it has never been cheaper and more effective than now.
That was a lesson to be learned from Vietnam, to the Russians in Afghanistan, to the U.S. in Afghanistan and Iraq, to Ukraine. Now we are experiencing it in Iran.
We had prevented Iran from getting a nuclear weapon a decade ago. We could have been spending all of the military ordinance used on Iran in Ukraine helping devastate Russia's military and economy for a generation, and then be left to just focus on China. Instead we have allies who do not trust us, a tired military that is running out of ordinance faster than it can replenish it, rampant inflation, a rocketing deficit, a China that is just laughing at us while we keep shooting ourselves in the foot.
