Quarks come in six "flavours": up, down, charm, strange, top, and bottom. Each has varying mass, electric charge, and quantum properties.

I liked the original names (I'm old enough to remember them): up, down, strange, truth, beauty, and charm. I don't remember when they changed it. It was around the time I was in grad school, but we were still taught those names.
