ICE purchases Romulus building, plans immigrant detention center
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said it has purchased a building in Romulus where it plans to build detention facilities to house immigrant inmates.
"These will be very well-structured detention facilities meeting our regular detention standards," a spokesperson for ICE told the Free Press in a statement. "Sites will undergo community impact studies and a rigorous due diligence process to make sure there is no hardship on local utilities or infrastructure prior to purchase. The Romulus facility and its construction are expected to bring 1,458 jobs to the area and would contribute $149.9 million to GDP. Not only does metro Detroit have a large Hispanic population, it also has the largest concentration of Muslims in the country, so the regime has both crimes of "illegal immigration" (being brown) and "antisemitism" (being Muslim) to prosecute.
Thing is, I visit Greenfield Village often in the summer, and it's in the middle of Dearborn. Will I need to deal with storm troopers every time I want to spend a summer day at the Village?
CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, is very active here. CAIR has been designated a "terrorist organization" by Texas and Florida.
Michigan has Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, two seats on the state Supreme Court, and one Senator on the ballot this fall. All currently held by Dems. Terrorizing large segments of the metro Detroit Hispanic and Muslim populations could tip all those races.

You called this long ago, and unfortunately, you're right.
I am also now expecting Trump to sic ICE on voting locations.
Trump knows he is in for a rough time if the Dems take the House.
He will do whatever he can to stop that from happening.

It is not a trivial issue, the Country ( less MAGA ) needs to
get the GOP out of control. Republican congress critters have
almost unanimously shown that they have no spine when it comes to
doing the right thing. Dems need to get whatever majority it takes to throw a wrench in the gears of the Trump/MAGA takeover.

There probably will not be any storm troopers in Hillsdale County, which went 75% Trump in 24. In Wayne county (33% Trump), Washtenaw (26% Trump), I would not be surprised to see interference.

The reports yesterday gave the address of the warehouse that ICE has leased, so, today, there was a demonstration at the building. The local news reported that the building owner says the lease specifically prohibits ICE from using it as a detention facility.
On the late local news tonight: Over the last couple months, two Detroit PD officers had reason to stop a couple people, and saw cause to call ICE or Border Patrol to the scene. The DPD Chief says calling the Feds in, is against policy, so both of those officers have been suspended. The police union is irate. It's a pretty safe bet that, if the local media, and the police union, know about it, Noem and Homan know about it. So, the probability of Detroit being mass invaded by Feds, has probably gone up.

I vote in Washtenaw County. One thing that would mitigate a lot of the intimidation effort is that Michigan has no-excuse mail-in voting and early voting. There will no doubt be a major effort to encourage voters to use these methods. I intend to be part of that effort.

Yes, it does, since Prop 3 passed in 2018. Those are two of the things God on Earth Trump wants to eliminate, by November.
