The White House said that an Admiral ordered the second boat strike and the killing of two survivors and Hegseth supported his decision. Unless Congress takes action, it looks to me that the US is heading towards how the Japanese acted in WW2.
After 20 March 1943, officers of the Imperial Japanese Navy ordered and encouraged the Navy to execute all prisoners taken at sea.
According to British historian Mark Felton, "officers of the Imperial Japanese Navy ordered the deliberately sadistic murders of more than 20,000 Allied seamen and countless civilians in cold-blooded defiance of the Geneva Convention." At least 12,500 British sailors and 7,500 Australians were murdered. The Japanese Navy sank Allied merchant and Red Cross vessels, then murdered the survivors floating in the sea or in lifeboats. During Naval landing parties, the Japanese Navy rounded up, raped, then massacred civilians. Some of the victims were fed to sharks, others were killed by sledge-hammer, bayonet, crucifixion, drowning, hanging, and beheading.[61][62]
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/hegseth-sp...A depressing day where a person who orders the killing of two unarmed survivors is considered an American hero by the US government. What is next???

Aussi,
Yeah if it's true the admiral and/or Hegseth deliberately blew up unarmed survivors with the intent to murder them, and with no legitimate military justification, that's really bad, probably violates the rules of engagement (whatever they are), will get the admiral court martialed and Hegseth prosecutred (unless pardoned by Trump), and seems particularly stupid because this framing makes it sound utterly vindictive and pointless.
However, let's remember the stock in trade of the MSM when attempting to address "issues" is to try to get engagement by "personifying" bad stuff that happens to people and framing it as a "tragedy," while ignoring whatever the "big picture" might be.
The U.S. has upwards of half a dozen Ohio class ballistic missile submarine on patrol at all times with the capability of killing a lot more innocent people than a couple of drug dealers or fishermen hanging off the side of a blasted boat.
If nothing else good comes of all this, I do hope Putin is watching very, very careful and fully understands we have a President who is ready, willing and able to pull the trigger and kill people if he sees the need to do that, in America's interests.

Or, a schoolyard bully that only picks on those much weaker and vulnerable.
There was a great line in "Zulu". The two officers are talking about the defeat at the hands of the Zulus earlier in the day, and how the army doesn't like two defeats in one day. One of the officers said "it looks bad in the papers, and upsets civilians at their breakfast".

Having one person, especially an incredibly ignorant person who is only motivated by his own personal interests, be the judge, jury, and hangman is the antithesis of American values.
It also shows how prescient the group of Democrats were who warned the military about giving and following illegal orders.

Prescient? Or had they received information that there had already been an incident in the Caribbean that illustrated the danger?
Regardless, making their video was the right thing to do.

What I hope is the American people realize and fully understands we have a President who is ready, willing and able to pull the trigger and kill people if he sees the need to do that to advance his personal agenda. Kent State is not very far away and could be minor compared to what could happen under this Administration.

Yes, and he has enough lackeys and pardon power that it could happen. Face it, we can be as bad as the rest of the world.

... Or had they received information that there had already been an incident in the Caribbean that illustrated the danger?...It seems likely that Admiral Holsey saw the writing on the wall and made the refuse illegal order/retire decision. Will he speak up?

The rumor is that he is willing to testify. But I wonder...the pressure on him not to expose Hegseth must be immense.

I'm reminded of a practice in many offices: blame everything on the guy that quit/retired.
I'm wondering if that will happen once he leaves his position; they'll blame everything on him.
He'll have no choice if he is called to testify, which may happen if Congress changes hands next year.
