Apple announced a $500 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing over the next 4 years, that also includes hiring 20,000 employees. I support this type of high tech manufacturing in the U.S. (for both economic and national security reasons) which is why I am a supporter of Biden’s CHIPs Act.

Of course, this won’t do much to solve the unemployment of individuals who do not have a college degree. From the link: the 20,000 people Apple said it will hire over the next four years will be mostly focused on R&D, silicon engineering, software development, and AI and machine learning.

Also, there will be a cost. China is known for their laser focused retaliatory tariffs, and I expect them to use them again. These will most likely offset the new jobs somewhat.

Did tariffs push this? Again, regarding tariffs from the link: … Evercore ISI analysts have estimated the potential financial impact on Apple would be relatively minimal.

Overall, I think this is good for America.
