Well, no doubt republicans would have done joyous backflips had either president Obama or Biden advocated the federal government taking over state elections in those states or critical precincts where they were most likely to lose.
TRUMPEDO: “We should take over the voting in at least 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting because we have states that are so crooked.”

Trump says Republicans should 'nationalize' voting in at least 15 places
WASHINGTON, Feb 2 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Monday that Republicans should "nationalize" and "take over" voting in at least 15 unspecified places, reiterating his false claims that U.S. elections are marred by widespread fraud.
Referring to immigrants, the president said on "The Dan Bongino Show": "These people were brought to our country to vote, and they vote illegally. And you know, amazing that the Republicans aren't tougher on it."
"The Republicans should say, we want to take over. We should take over the voting, the voting in at least many, 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting," Trump said in the interview.
He did not specify the locations but said: "We have states that are so crooked and they're counting votes. We have states that I won that show I didn't win."https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-says...So God on Earth Trump picks which states to "nationalize" voting, and Trump the Magnificent and Perfect then does the counting for those states. Yeah. That will fix everything. He will never again whine, endlessly, for years, about being "cheated" out of another "win".

Remember when he told that Amish group that if they voted for him they would never have to vote again. He wasn't joking.

Well, what I've learned from lawyers on this board (and the Old Fool) is that this is blatantly unconstitutional. It would be challenged in court, and probably voided almost instantly. The states control voting. Period. There isn't much ambiguity about that (Article 1 section 4).

From last August:
"Remember, the States are merely an 'agent' for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them, FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY, to do," Trump wrote.https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-lead-movemen...So, in his eyes, states are merely staff for the Federal government. If states don't count the way he wants, he can fire them, and hire different vote counters. I'm sure the yes-men he filled his echo chamber with are feeding that delusion too.

The Country will go up in flames if Trump/MAGA does that.
So I hope that this is just another trial balloon launched by Trump.
Hi MO is to make idiotic, grandiose proclamations, and see what support he gets. This load of excrement will go over even worse than his ICE terrorists gunnin down Americans.
But you guys are right to call it out.
2026 gonna be one long ass year.
A few of my older friends are thinking that it's gonna be like 1968,
all over again.

The goons will move in, “to protect the integrity of the vote”, you understand.
And MAGA faithful will cheer this president who obviously stands for law and order and is willing to knock some heads in order to enforce his will.
Some of them might even wake up.

That’s my understanding as well.

That’s the part where I smile and pat people on the head condescendingly. Oh you sweet innocent child. That’s the way it should work. But not for Trump. He’ll be in court and filing appeal after appeal, while running the clock down to the election date. He will do what he wants in spite of court orders, daring people to stop him. Is the judge going to stop him? Is the DoJ going to stop him? Of course not.
Because we didn’t stop Trump early, he has gathered enough levers of power to do pretty much whatever he wants now. It may no longer be possible to stop. Much will depend on the mid terms and Congress growing a spine. And even that may not be enough any more.
I genuinely believe that it may take a hot war. The only question is will that be an intramural war (with various states lining up on each side) or will it be WWIII?

Spankee will try to "nullify" the blue state votes--CA and NY especially.
He may TRY troops in the streets, but the various governors will tell him "OUT OR ELSE".

SCOTUS says he cannot be criminally charged, while in office. And, he has beaten two impeachments. He thinks he is invulnerable. He can simply ignore anything Congress, or the courts, try to do. He has his own, private, army of Storm Troopers, ICE and Border Patrol agents, and he is CinC of the Armed Forces.

Then the Govs are tossed in prison on a sedition charge, and die of old age waiting for "legal due process".

Not going to happen.
That would require so many military personnel, the top military would stop it. They recognize treason when then see it.

Unless he sends in troops, the states will stop him. They own it, and they know it. I'm not sure of how priorities work on dockets, but I'm sure this would be pushed to the top, and get thrown out every step.
So, the Felon would have to decide to ignore the courts. Which the states won't let him do. So, he'll have to send in either his gestapo (ICE, which wouldn't have jurisdiction, but he could make up something about stopping "illegals" from voting), or actual troops. Either scenario could get really ugly really fast, since the affected governors may have no choice but to call out the national guard to protect their voting rights.
I have no confidence in Congress. But I do have some confidence that governors would not stand for such intrusions into state powers.
If the Felon pushes it that far, a 'hot' war is a possibility. Probably not WWIII (the rest of the world wouldn't care). But it would be the first time the US has open conflict since WWII (which wasn't a big deal...Japan invaded Alaska -not yet a state-, and one of their subs shelled Santa Barbara...oh, and they floated some pyro balloons over the oceans that landed in Washington/Oregon, injuring no one).
