With the thousands of young draft age single illegal male aliens, just hanging out waiting every day for the dole of food, shelter etc., I wonder when will they start demanding, yes, they are now demanding (as said in an earlier post) more and more from the American tax payer.
I expect the time will come when they band together, start rioting and looting because they are impatient waiting for the ‘American Dream’ they thought would happen sooner rather than later.

If our vaunted Mayor Adams had had arriving migrants entered officially into the system, with an assigned Case Manager for each one, then the ability of "young draft-age single (as well as married) male" migrants to become eligible for work permits would not have been stymied, becoming impossible in many cases because of the extensive time lapse.

In fairness, I don' think Adams can do that. Work permits are issued by the feds (I95, as I recall). Not a city mayor, or city government. I read that Adams issued an executive order about busing migrants to NYC, but I doubt that is enforceable. "You papers, please" isn't a thing in the US for interstate travel.
The real problem is that at least half the population doesn't see the real problem. The real problem is that our system can only be fixed by Congress, and they have shown no interest in doing so for at least a decade. They aren't even taking the issue up, with the exception of a few "nips and tucks" here and there. It can't be fixed by executive order no matter how much people want it to be. Even aided by a pandemic, the (conservative!) SCOTUS has made it more difficult to use Title 42.
And as long as it's a vote-getter, I don't think Reps are going to want to fix it. You want it fixed, put more Dems in office.

Yes, Adams could've had them entered into the system and assigned a case manager. She's saying had this been done, when Biden authorized the work permits (which he did) it would've been much easier to find them and give them the permit. Travel is a right for US Citizens, but they aren't citizens - so we shall see.

Registering them, regardless, would have been good. I did double-check, and I can only find that Biden sped-up permits for Venezuelans. Not for migrants in general (or asylum-applicants in general).
It is true that there are a few checkpoints near border highways (I've been through one on the way to San Diego). But, in general, we have free movement between states without having to present "papers".
