That is such an obvious inversion of reality that it is stunning to hear it coming from an otherwise intelligent person.

It's enough to make one question any other signs of intelligence. If you can't do a basic screen of obvious facts from blatant lies on the political front, why should anyone think you could do so in any other area? If your judgement can be so terribly colored by political preferences, how do we know that judgement isn't being colored in other areas as well?
