Idiotic and unscientific.

They came up with a data-mined, false unscientific definition of "winter."

"Winter" is the period from the winter solstice to the vernal equinox.

That's the definition of "winter."

So YOU wear "winter clothing" ALL WINTER LONG (from the winter solstice to the vernal equinox)? Just applying your "logic" to YOU. Or do you RUN AWAY AGAIN ????

But, let's do pronouns and illegals ; )

As someone has been saying a decade: Surf's Up!

And just think - EV progress was so strong. Now it's set back by a decade in the USA vis a vis mainstreaming it.

Good job -

Looking at it another way.
https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/monthly-average...

And in my purely anec-data analysis - The Sand Hill cranes migrate heading south later in the fall and heading north earlier in the late winter now than they did years ago. But what do bird brains know?

Define "winter clothing" dum dum and indicate how you scientifically arrived at that definition.

You're about as logical as a box of hammers.

LOL !! EV progress is about where it should be. 2026-2029 was when the next generation of new battery tech was coming out--and it is.

Sodium-ion batteries are being set up for production--with long life and fast charging.

Spankee can't stop it, especially if it is "just across the border" AND people can go see them and try them for themselves.

Ford wants to use Chinese EV tech in its US cars. MB already makes cars in the US and can likely readily fit Chinese EV tech into its "Made in USA" cars.

"Winter" has a scientific definition.

Sure does--generally, the COLDER season.

So, no snow = no winter? Example: Tropics. No winter? LOL !!!

Fewer cold days = fewer winter days. Can be ZERO snow days.

Key point: Winter SEASON is generally defined as the cold(er) weather season in the non-polar regions. How long that season lasts is NOT fixed, nor is the weather (or snow).

Remember: YOU were the one screeching about "winter solstice". So YOU know about winter clothing--starting on YOUR declaration regarding the "winter solstice". You know, FACTS.

Or facts don't matter?

Astronomical seasons vs. Meteorological seasons

https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/news/meteorological-vers...

The Astronomical Seasons
People have used observable periodic natural phenomena to mark time for thousands of years. The natural rotation of Earth around the sun forms the basis for the astronomical calendar, in which we define seasons with two solstices and two equinoxes. Earth’s tilt and the sun’s alignment over the equator determine both the solstices and equinoxes.

The equinoxes mark the times when the sun passes directly above the equator. In the Northern Hemisphere, the summer solstice falls on or around June 21, the winter solstice on or around December 22, the vernal or spring equinox on or around March 21, and the autumnal equinox on or around September 22. These seasons are reversed but begin on the same dates in the Southern Hemisphere.

/snip

The Meteorological Seasons
Meteorologists and climatologists break the seasons down into groupings of three months based on the annual temperature cycle as well as our calendar. We generally think of winter as the coldest time of the year and summer as the warmest time of the year, with spring and fall being the transition seasons, and that is what the meteorological seasons are based on. Meteorological spring in the Northern Hemisphere includes March, April, and May; meteorological summer includes June, July, and August; meteorological fall includes September, October, and November; and meteorological winter includes December, January, and February.

Meteorological observing and forecasting led to the creation of these seasons, and they are more closely tied to our monthly civil calendar than the astronomical seasons are. The length of the meteorological seasons is also more consistent, ranging from 90 days for winter of a non-leap year to 92 days for spring and summer. By following the civil calendar and having less variation in season length and start, it becomes much easier to calculate seasonal statistics from the monthly statistics, both of which are very useful for agriculture, commerce, and a variety of other purposes.

Hope this sheds more light than heat.

There's nothing "false" about the definition, we were using the term winter since the 800s. If they define their period to make a point, then show that these scientific periods you are using indicate that "winter" isn't getting warmer. Your response is pointless otherwise.

I have lived in southeastern Utah since 1976. We are in a long term drought. This year we hardly had anything deserving of the word 'winter'. And the nearby mountains are at 40% of normal snowpack. I'm sure weather variations will provide some occasional relief, but the trend we are seeing aligns well with what climate change models have predicted: hotter and drier. Not good for an already arid region.

And look at Phoenix:

Phoenix experienced 70 days with temperatures at or above 110 degrees Fahrenheit in 2025. This total was part of a historically hot year, with 2025 ranking as the 2nd hottest on record for the city. The summer also featured a, notable 113-day streak of temperatures at or above 100 degrees.
