So this morning, Trumpedo announced his solution to the healthcare crisis in America.

TRUMPEDO: I am recommending to Senate Republicans that the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars currently being sent to money sucking Insurance Companies in order to save the bad Healthcare provided by ObamaCare, BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE PEOPLE SO THAT THEY CAN PURCHASE THEIR OWN, MUCH BETTER, HEALTHCARE, and have money left over. In other words, take from the BIG, BAD Insurance Companies, give it to the people, and terminate, per Dollar spent, the worst Healthcare anywhere in the World, ObamaCare. Unrelated, we must still terminate the Filibuster!

Umm, what now?

Is this half-baked universal healthcare?

But with more room for fraud, and no protections for pre-existing conditions?

Or is Trumpedo suggesting getting rid of insurance companies altogether and making Americans pay out-of-pocket for their healthcare directly to doctors and hospitals?

And does this only apply to individuals covered by Obamacare?

And do Americans get a one-time check or a check every year?

Umm, no wonder he never announced a healthcare plan. This is ginormously stupid.

And Americans actually voted for this nitwit for his economic knowledge, business skills, and for his ability to bring down the price of groceries, gasoline, healthcare, and energy?

What f*cking morons.

They’re flailing their arms and baffling with bullshit now.

Trump’s “plan” was derived at 3 am while tweeting on his golden throne.

Meanwhile, Senate Republicans are saying “Perhaps folks have forgotten how horrible Dubya’s plan was. Let’s roll that one out again….. but hell, we gotta do something now.

In Trump’s defense, these are just concepts of a plan for healthcare.

And yes, the ACA is still more popular than Trump’s billionaire tax cuts.

And, per King Trump’s demand, I FORBID anyone to mention the word AFFORDABILITY on these boards. There will be consequences.

My thought- this is less about health care and more about sticking it to Schumer for yesterday.

Not that Schumer and medical insurance are above criticism, but Trump is driven more by “getting even” than any concern for real solutions.

But with more room for fraud, and no protections for pre-existing conditions?

I'll take "deregulation" for $500 Bob.

Sounds like Paul Ryan's "premium support" scheme for Medicare: the government sends a voucher to people to be applied toward the premiums from a private insurance company. None of that "intrusive, burdensome, big gummit regulation", like a 20% cap on insurance company overhead, or non-discrimination regarding pre-existing conditions, no requirement they actually pay legitimate claims.

But, a lot of people would opt out. I doubt insurance companies would go for it, preferring to take the guaranteed profit from the current system, vs gambling they would be able to gouge those who participate in the program enough to offset the people who drop insurance. If nothing else, forcing the "JCs" to come in off the golf course, and rework their business model to exploit the new system, after already doing that a dozen years ago to exploit the ACA would be a "burden". That's too much like work!

The last time I looked at the associated costs, we were somewhere in the neighborhood of the median income being very near the median cost of health care. IOW, there is no way to make it work unless you take some money (via taxes) from the wealthy and use it to pay for healthcare. This is antithetical to everything the GOP stands for, so as we have seen time and again, the GOP solution to the problem is the null set.

Let's just elect Mamdani president in 2028 and we will all get free health care.

Problem solved.

It’s such zeroth order, low level thinking if democrats to say, “Just tax somebody to pay for a thing”.

It’s so intellectually lazy. What happened to college tuition when the government essentially loaned money to anybody with a pulse? Tuition skyrocketed because there was every incentive to.

Provide free money and it does nothing to address the underlying inefficiencies in a system. liberals don’t understand this and we saw it in the inflation threads the other day.

Also, ProGlibs never account for the opportunity cost of a policy decision to tax A for a benefit to B.

You want to amend the Constitution to allow foreign born people to be POTUS? Or didn't you know he was born in Uganda?

We are already paying more than enough to cover universal healthcare. The problem is so much gets skimmed off by the leaches that have built themselves into the system, between the people providing care, and the people paying the bills. But you already knew that to, right?

We have 5 times the overhead costs that other developed nations have, high insurance costs, and we partner with Big Pharma for drug development, etc., who makes money off of our partnership. We develop diagnostic machines, and other countries get our older refurbished machines. As a result, the rest of the world gets benefits without the costs -it should be the other way around, or at least fairly even.

We always here you can't get there from here as we subsidize billionaires.

I doubt the point that medical diagnostic machines are developed in the USA. MRI was first in UK as an example.

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-north-east-or...

I didn't check other machines but my guess is that a lot of devepment work is done in other countries.

However, it sure makes a nice sound bite that the USA is being ripped off by other countries.

Sorry about the MRI, but a cheap shot on your part. We do replace machines and the machines are picked up by charity groups and end up in places like the Philippines, where they do good work. You can get MRIs for a fifth of the cost in the US, and cataracts done for $500 even if you're a USian. We do pay more for drugs, but that actually seems to be a problem with the US government. So Big Medical gets in cahoots withe the government. There are some unfair trades, but that can be evened out.
