So, we did a back-to-back cruise from Lisbon to San Juan, and then San Juan to various Caribbean islands. 1poorlady informed me that "I think we're done with the Caribbean". I concur.
Basically, the Caribbean appears to be for beach-going partiers. There is very little to do if you aren't into that. Sure, the beaches are varying degrees of good to great. But is there anything else to see? Nope. We spent a lot of our time collecting food items, like banana rum, sauces, seasonings, and something called "mamajuana". We did a few tours, but they weren't much. We did see how the local people lived, which was something. But most of the tours were "let's go to this beach". There just isn't that much to see.
Glad we did it once, but we won't be doing it again. There are too many other places to go that aren't beach destinations (like the Galapagos...really want to get there before we're too old to endure such a trip).
