FYI- I inquired and am disappointed to learn that Markel will no longer be hosting their long-standing Sunday brunch in Omaha this May. My compadres and I have always enjoyed the update presentation, engagement with owners, Q&A, casual scene, engagement with attendees and a nice spread of food.
Security was heightened last year and bags needed to be checked prior to entry last year. Their meeting also allowed me to double dip on both BRK & MKL on one weekend trip and I imagine they grew their quality shareholder base over the years.
The Markel I.R. response included:
“We'll continue to have a small team present in attendance at the Berkshire Hathaway AGM, but we are not planning to host our Brunch in Omaha this year.
Instead, we are focusing our attention and resources on the Reunion which we very much hope you will attend.”
