Rumor has it that Sandy Koufax is warming up in the bullpen.

watched the recap earlier, Freeman with the walkoff HR to deep centerfield !
18 innings, a World Series doubleheader,lol.
I have no dog in this fight, glad to see Toronto hanging tough against
that great Dodger's team with the absolutely massive payroll.
So Tigers gave Seattle everything they could handle, Seattle gave Toronto
everything they could handle, and Toronto giving LA everything they
can handle. Maybe the Tigers are closer to the WS than I thought, despite
some woeful hitting ( and strikeouts ). Hoping Detroit can sign a couple
of legit, proven major league bats, and hoping 1 or 2 of their elite
20-21 year old Minor League positional players can make the jump to
the Big Leagues next year.
( I know, I know, hope springs eternal in the off season, lol )

I watched the whole thing. The advantages of retirement. I wandered back into the living room, as I was brushing my teeth, when Freeman hit. There had previously been two or three hits that the batters thought were gone, but, apparently, the ball doesn't carry at that stadium at night, so the balls were caught on the warning track.

Or maybe the cheapskate ownership will make itself known. Think about it. Brad Ausmus had no managerial experience. Bet he came cheap. Ron Gardenhire was a cancer survivor, and out of work. Bet he came cheap. A. J. Hinch was tainted by scandal, and out of work. Bet he came cheap. At some point, Hinch will purge himself of scandal, and be worth a lot more. Will the Tigers organization pay up, or lose him?

" A. J. Hinch was tainted by scandal, and out of work."
I like AJ, think he is a really good manager. Read that no manager in
MLB uses his entire roster as much as Hinch does. He is really good
with young players. The Tigers have 3 so called "elite" minor league
positional players, I think 2 of them are ranked as top 10 overall prospects.
They can hopefully bring 2 of them up to The Show, knowing that Hinch will
find a way to get them on the field, not have them languishing on the bench.
But they don't have to be stars right away. Just have to fill in and replace
some of the Tiger vet hitters that strike out a lot, and hit 205 with no power, lol.
If Ilitch doesn't sign any proven bats, the Tigers will plateau right
where they're at. If they get a couple of competent bats, and 1 or 2 of the prospects actually turns out to be good, then they can compete with a
mid level payroll. Until Skubal has to be re-signed, that'll break the bank.

...until other teams overcome their fear of Hinch's stench of scandal, and make him a better offer. Then the Tigers go looking for someone who they can get cheap.
Losing talent is a long time Tigers tradition. I remember Lance Parrish, decades ago, complaining that the Tigers bring people up through their farm system, develop them into good players then "let them slip through their fingers". Parrish moved on to better offers in 86.

Yeah, there are some owners who don't put the team first.... and their poor ticket sales are reflected in their failure to scout, develop, make the hard decisions.
Yes, LA is a lucrative franchise, but without the single-mindedness they are famous for, any franchise could be trashed (attendance crashed during the dismal Frank McCourt era). I remember Tommy Lasorda walking around as the retired manager telling morose staff and fans to think positive, suggesting the McCourts wouldn't last... and he was right.
We bleed blue. I got my first transistor radio confiscated in a Jr High classroom listening to Vin Scully calling the '65 Dodger/Twins WS game, the wire to the earpiece not concealed well enough.
I came home from the beach before WS Game 1 to find a Sandy Koufax jersey hanging to the left of the TV, and a Jackie Robinson jersey to the right. The ball on my desk is signed by Alston, Durocher, Koufax, Drysdale, Parker, Wills, Roseboro....etc.
Last night was one for the books. Shohei reaching base 9 times... Mookie making great plays, Kersh coming out of the bullpen to shut down a dangerous inning... and Klein! He's never thrown more than 2 innings in his brief Pro career, and never pitched under post-season pressure. One base hit over 4 shutout innings! And his expression after spearing that line drive shot right at him..priceless!
“Well, I realized that when I looked around in the bullpen, and my name was the only one still there,I was just going to go until I couldn't.”
After all that it's still anybodies series to win.

I have no memory of Koufax, but I know he was the best of the best over his
career. Ohtani is the best player I've ever seen, can hit a ton and
then throw 100 mph on the mound. Can really run, too, although I would not
have him stealing bases, even though he's really good at it.
Ohtani and Babe Ruth are the only 2 players to be great on the mound and
at the plate. Never seen Ruth, of course, glad I'm getting the chance to
see Ohtani.
Sure wish they played day games when the WS is in LA, lol.
( and Ohtani is not even the best Japanese pitcher on the Dodgers, lol ).

Yup. In one ep, Magnum was supposed to be in Detroit. That ep had Lou Whitaker and Alan Trammell, 2nd base and short, respectively, for the Tigers in the 80s, make cameo appearances.
I was watching a Tigers game one day, and the cameraman found Selleck in the stands. That was a bit after Magnum went off. What was unusual was that Selleck had shaved off the mustache.

He sure did, the olde English D. Been a Tiger fan for as long as I can
remember. Don't live and die with any sports team anymore, but enjoy
following the Tigers when they are good. Been a Lions fan for nearly
as long, gotta admit I'm really enjoying this stretch, under Coach
Campbell. I luv'd Stafford's game, was really happy he got a Super Bowl title,
that was the rare trade that worked out great for both teams.
I'll be watching Ohtani tonight, think he's on the mound.

His name was Clayton Kershaw, and he got them out of a jam, retiring the only batter he faced.

and Ohtani is not even the best Japanese pitcher on the Dodgers
Yoshinobu Yamamoto's 2 complete games were so important, letting the bullpen get extra rest.
My niece was a media intern for the Giants last year... was quite sure they had Roki in the bag. I had a hunch he would prefer playing with Ohtani. Who wouldn't?
