bighairymike: Trump was up over 414,000 in Feb 2020, just before Covid hit.

That's like saying the Cubs were up 3–0 in the eighth inning and holding a three-games-to-two lead in the best-of-seven series and would have gone on to the World Series if not for Steve Bartman.

Sh1t happens. Those jobs went away and there was no guarantee they were ever coming back.

Studies of past economic disruptions have shown that manufacturing jobs usually do not come back. The U.S. economy has had 13 recessions in the past 80-plus years. Forty-five months after nine of those recessions began, manufacturing employment remained below initial levels. Of the four recessions that produced net manufacturing job gains after 45 months, Biden’s presidency ranks as the second-largest percentage gain, exceeded only by the recession that started in 1948.

In short, when manufacturing jobs go away, there's never a guarantee they will ever return.

bighairymike: Low energy prices.

Yeah, I remember when oil futures went negative because no one was driving their cars because 20 million people were unemployed and tens of millions more were working from home for months.

bighairymike: Brought Iran to its economic knees.

Yeah, not really. First, at the end of Ahmadinejad’s term international sanctions were already bringing the Iranian economy to its knees. Rouhani, his successor, won the 2013 race promising to de-escalate tensions with the West, standing in sharp contrast Ahmadinejad, who favored shifting Iran toward China.

So what did Trump accomplish with even stricter sanctions?

That's right, he drove Iran into China's arms with a 25-year agreement between Iran and China approved by the Iranian cabinet.

As Will Farrell (as W) would say: strategery.
