That was 20 years ago. Where are their proposals now?

Where are the ideas from all the compassionate liberals on this board today? Do they not value The Community and all that?

Their proposals are in the same place as the bills for national abortion bans. Waiting for the political environment in which they could either get 60 votes, or in which the GOP can actually bring itself to vote for a compromise that they could accept. You'll remember that every bargain that the Democrats tried to get on immigration back in the Obama days died - because even when the GOP was willing to enter discussions, the base voters would never let the party as a whole agree to anything significant. Everyone knows that there's no chance in heck of getting a path to citizenship bill through the current GOP coalition. That doesn't mean that the Democrats are secretly not in support of immigrants' well being, any more than the absence of a national abortion ban bill means the GOP is secretly not against abortion.
