So I wonder, since Buffett claims Greg is calling the shots does that mean brk can now buy msft? There are no longer any potential conflicts, right?

msft should outperform brks cash going forward PLUS, msft YIELDS almost 1 percent!

WHO is making capital allocations decisions at msft, a homeless wino? ::))

Admittedly I haven’t read the article, my bias is that a bullish cover story on MSFT is a contrary indicator, almost like when they had Amazon and Facebook on the cover negatively. We will see.

The question was, now that Greg is allegedly in control, is msft on our short list of potential investments? Thank you.

You are correct that was the question!

I would say that its not off limits anymore- if I had to guess.

However, Gregg Warren said something I thought was very interesting in his recent podcast.

Basically, one of the reasons, could be a big reason, that Buffett sold down Apple and maybe BAC too, is because they're subject to the corporate AMT, and if their cash taxes are not in excess of 15% over a 3 year period, then they're unrealized gains would be taxed. So, Gregg Warren (interesting the name, huh?), things that Buffett sold down equities in order to make sure they paid over 15% in taxes so as not to have unrealized gains taxed, at least, that's what I understood.

If this is the case, maybe, stock purchases of any real size, would not be emphasized going forward.

We techncally owns msft in their "secret portfolio" as Motley Fool likes to say. Granted it's a tiny position.
