This is going to be like 2016 when a stuck up princess thought that the rust belt and Middle America owed her their votes. She didn't have to court them.

While that was a huge miscalculation on her part (and an inexcusable blunder by her staff), I'm not sure how that is relevant in 2024. Biden actually joined "middle America" on the picket lines, fairly recently. He's not assuming they owe him their votes.

As to education, the Reps seem determined to destroy it in the country. Apparently they have embraced the Trump ideal of "I love the poorly educated", probably because those folks are more easily fooled. (Education isn't just about regurgitating facts, or minority studies, or whatever...it's about learning critical thinking.)
