Not really a US Policy thing, but Manlobbi will probably let this one stand.
He was very helpful in providing information that enabled us to determine that we could retire early. Early retirement may not be for everyone. Some folks just love their jobs, and couldn't be happier than doing those jobs. More power to them. I liked my job, but I'm happier not having to do it now (from the commute, to pointless meetings, etc). I much preferred going to places like Iceland, Coron, Normandy, etc.
intercst joins 1poormom in the ranks of "you never know what's going to happen, so enjoy life NOW". Sadly for both of them. But I admire his attitude in that thread: "grateful I was able to enjoy 30 years of retirement". A very good way to look at it.
