Was thinking about selling some Jan 2027 covered calls against my position, but the cost basis is so low if the shares get called I'd have a large tax bill.
Don't let the stock get called away. Late in the day on expiration day, check if the stock is near or above the strike. If so, sell them. The time value will be negligible. If it expires below the strike, they'll expire without being called.
Remember, either way, the gain/loss from the options hedge will be short-term.
