while advance notice of ever-changing rules and policies are confined to benefit insiders near the top, downstream impacts can also become normalized.

are you a customs agent and don't know what today's rules are? $500 should fix the clearance.

This is one of my greatest fears about the possible lasting effects of Trumpism: corruption so deep and pernicious we can never get back to a civil society mostly free of corruption.

Sure, there has always been a low level of corruption, but the country had safeguards that caught and punished corruption. Now that seems to be becoming a thing of the past.

And the Republican Party seems fine with it, as long as it seems to be benefitting them. Not the rank and file, but the power brokers in the party and their oligarch supporters.

Trump to his MAGA followers: FU, I never gave a shit about you and once you gave me your vote I could toss you aside like the garbage I really see you as.
