Trump said he wanted to de-escalate because he wanted to de-escalate.
Instead of taking that as invitation for some kind of a compromise, Frey decided it was weakness and declined the overture.
So, what exactly would you expect Trump to do?

So, what exactly would you expect Trump to do?
Implement responsible police tactics, instead of returning to, if not amping up, terrorism.
The state of Minnesota receives several hundred million in Federal funding for public safety. If the state and cities do not police in accordance with Federal policy, that funding could be eliminated, to make a point, without the general population being terrorized by Federal storm troopers.

Is it his call? Quick google search shows that Minneapolis' "sanctuary" policies were adopted by ordinance (a legislative act by the City Council), while the Mayor is in charge of City administration (an executive position).

Is it his call? Quick google search shows that Minneapolis' "sanctuary" policies were adopted by ordinance (a legislative act by the City Council), while the Mayor is in charge of City administration (an executive position).
Then the Mayor should have implored the City Council to repeal the ordinance, instead of taking personal ownership of the policy.
Seems a few people are getting into a ego driven fight, and the Proles trying to mind their own business, on the street, pay the price.
Steve...been consistent, for years, that "sanctuary" policies are fundamentally wrong.
