Below is a gifted link to an WaPo article about some groups of hard core life-long Republicans who have decided to put country over party. To my conservative friends here on Shrewd’m, you also can be brave enough to choose country over party. If the shoe was on the other foot, I, a life-long Democrat, would certainly put country over party.

Actually, it’s not the brave thing to do. If you love this country, it’s the only thing to do.

A lifelong family friend (from TX, originally) has voted Dem exactly twice, and this year will be the third time. He was torn between HRC and the convict. Didn't like HRC, but ended up being more concerned about what the convict might do. In 2020, he didn't even have to think about it (because then he knew). This year he also doesn't have to think about it. As he says, he's "holding his breath" because this race is a lot closer than it should be. Yes, he is solidly in the "boomer" ranks (pushing 70). He never expected to be voting Dem in his life. He, too, values country over party.

Good for him. If only more people felt the same way. The closer we get to Nov 5, the more worried I become. Harris' momentum has peaked and the race is essentially tied. I'm an atheist, but I'll be praying for Harris to pull this out. I won't be able to stomach watching the results trickle in that night and will wait until morning to see what happened, but I sure won't sleep well either. If Trump wins, it will be SO much worse than it was in 2016.

Status Kuo: ".....the polls are bunk. The GOP knows from internal polling that Trump’s in trouble, and that they have to shore him up. That’s why they’re flooding us with partisan polls—60 GOP leaning ones, all paid for by Republicans and dropped into the mix recently, all in the battleground states.
