It is my sincere hope that your Tribes can at least eke out a side deal on SNAP.

While punishment is beautiful and glorious, kids born into either bad luck, OR bad culture - dont deserve to be without food. One side "champions the poor" but pushed it this far. The other tribe "is Christian. Lives are precious" -- and they are also content to play chicken with the meals of kids.

So i hope there's a deal on that part and I hope *neither* side is jumped on for "caving" or "winning" but then again - if you look at mountains of Pakistan or Afghanistan, tribalism seems to hurt so i'm not holding my breathe. Actually yes I am, I hope SNAP gets fixed.'

'The worst part.....

Sheeple as usual doesn't care about the roots of the problem. THe question is never asked why do 40,000,000 people in "America" need help to buy food?

On my side, it's "free market"! "get a job"!

And for decades, socioeconomic trends both in work, trade, immigration, and family structure - things both tribes have done their part to screw up has bred - 40,000,000 needing to eat.

So keep spending -

Or don't - and get the mayhem.

You people deserve both.

The kids, don't.

BTW -53% of kids needing SNAP are from single-parent homes.

Yeah, that 50's bullshit beaver cleaver stuff is so bad. Let's just shout "$15 an hour" abnd go from there.

BTW Sheeple's France - replete with "higher wages" "CEOs not as greedy". "less oligarchs" and "government health care"...guess what? 10% of them also need food help.

Culture. Ignore it, and get punished.

Luckily this SNAP thing won't happen and if it does it won't be for long. If it drags, my hope is the angry people find affluent Liberal enclaves and commerce areas...and "pay a visit". It might be time for me to test out a few tactics to make that happen just in isolated 1 or 2 instances - just as a test for bigger better things later.

Sheeple - you screwed the pooch. Interracial beastiality for sheeple. Different strokes.....

"free market"! "get a job"!

And what if I am right, that the GOP is fine with people losing ACA, losing SNAP, losing Medicaid, because they figure that the lack of assistance will force them to "get a job", or "work more hours", so they can make ends meet? And they have maneuvered the Dems into taking the heat for it.

***

They might indeed feel that way, but then they will say that it's not them who insisted on the shutdown.

And your tribes can go back and forth.

Lot of good that's done you people.

Longer term, yes, there is some logic and reason to believe what you say. The GOP (sadly) has always hated ACA and had no equal proposal. Well, they sort of did. ACA was *theirs* via Heritage Foundation and Mitt Romney :) Until Obama adopted some of it.....

On the hours and 'get a job' - yes, the GOP - - thinks that. And - - partially - they are right on. BUT they've not caught up to the fact that America is a poor country thanks to bad culture. 53% of kids on SNAP are in single parent households and the GOP doesn't realize that it's tough to get public transit, child care, and then "work" just to break-even in some cases. But then if one also wants to be fair minded and watch the outrage videos from some SNAP folks - one wonders how much the tattoo and smartphone costed.

Long term i'm not sure how it shakes out but i do feel there will be less jobs - thanks to "automation" and "progress". Hence i'm glad there will be less people coming in but Steve, I think the GOP is partially right about "get a job, work more hours", and partially wrong about it in some cases.

Where I think the whole country missed it: Nope, not a few bucks in hourly wage. Not this program or that tax cut.

Culture.

Socioeconomic trends.

The country never has a dialogue on *why* 40,000,000 of our people need such help in the first place. The country never talks about why - jobs that used to be entry level, or summer work (fast food, etc) is now a career for life (well, it was. But seems that AI and Kiosks won't shout" 15 an hour!"

The country never has a dialogue - why in 'racist unfair america' do certain groups of america, non-white, in the first generation in america start at hte bottom, and end up in the wealthiest zip codes.

Hence, here you people are.

"Victory" constitutes "woo hoo, we got 40,000,000 their food assistance" - - great, some victory be proud.

Right now, there's someone having a baby out of wedlock and wondering why it's so hard to make ends meet and even move up the ladder. There's somebody reading their King James Bible about the rapture, and then having a baby out of wedlock and wondering the same thing. BUt also....there's many....working entry level jobs. Thankful they came to America. Raising nuclear families. Pooling living expenses with others. Their haircuts are cheaper than what you see on actual fast food workers. They won't have tattoo parlor and puppy expenses. They won't have rims on the car. But their kids will be at Kumon learning math. And they'll be kicking our asses even more than they do now----culture.

Again, I'm all for the assistance. Tax me for it. A poor country with bad culture ad no plan needs such. But i regret the root causes are not, were not, and will enger be discussed and i regreat that literally, huge swaths of people will be in the Hunger Games one day - sooner than we think.

And yes, I hope thee mayhem visits the enclaves of affluent white liberals one day. I still am not brave enough to start arranging it myself, but i will be pilot testing on one's and two's when the moment is right and if it works, maybe there's others who will do it. Chickenhawkery suits me well :)

Culture.

the GOP made "traditional family values" a centerpiece of their sales pitch in the late 80s. According to them, the problem is people not getting married, or getting divorced. So, their solution was to make it a lot harder to get divorced, and ram religion down everyone's throat. Nancy Reagan made a big deal of "just say no". Schools were teaching fear based abstinence programs, like "sex respect". There was a push to restrict access to contraceptives, contending their availability "encouraged" people to fool around. Dan Quayle carried on, at length, about the messaging behind a fictional, high income, TV character having a baby out of wedlock. According to the net sifter births outside of wedlock increased from 28% in 1990, to 41% in 2008.

From the Google net sifter about "sex respect".

"Sex Respect" is an abstinence-focused sex education program that teaches teens about saying "no" to premarital sex from a health and character perspective. It is designed as an alternative to comprehensive sex education, focusing on abstinence, consequences of premarital sex, and the development of healthy attitudes and values, while omitting details on contraception and abortion.

Program components

Student workbook: Provides information on sexual abstinence, male-female differences, and the consequences of premarital sex.

Teacher manual: Includes lesson plans, teaching objectives, and strategies for teaching abstinence-based sex education.

Parent guide: Offers a guide for parents and teachers to support the program's message.

Key focus areas

Abstinence: The core message is that saying "no" to premarital sex is a right and can lead to "true sexual freedom".

Health and character: It teaches abstinence from a health perspective and emphasizes character development and psychological and emotional well-being.

Consequences: The program discusses the potential consequences of premarital sex, including risks of STDs, unintended pregnancy, and emotional impacts.

Social pressures: It addresses cultural pressures against abstinence

Program limitations

Contraception and abortion: Critics note that the curriculum does not include information on contraception, abortion, or other options for pregnancy outcomes, which they argue does not "respect" free choice.

Manipulation: The program's focus on abstinence is seen by some as manipulative because it omits comprehensive information on all available options, according to Gale.

The GOP has done a bang up job gerrymandering the Country. Rural white people
votes count more than an urban vote. Podunk sparsely populated States get 2
Senators just like densely populated States. So the GOP has had more than their
fair share of influence since the GOP gerrymandering jihad started.
Dems try to gerrymander too, but GOP has been a whole lot better at it.

If the GOP sects get their way, the American Taliban is gonna be coming
to a blue-city near you, lol. Think of suck asses like Joel Olsteen working
his supporters into a feverish pitch, crusading to bring every American into
the Olsteen ilk money temples. And ya damn well better be ready to donate to the
cause, the cause being make the Olsteen ilk incomprehensively wealthy.

Freedom my ass, MAGA and the Evangelicals want total control.
Nobody cancels like MAGA.
