As noted before, Shinyland is 20 years farther down the road toward authoritarian kleptocracy, than it was in Bush 43's time. Bush had to spend a year lying to Congress, lying to the UN, and lying to the USian people, to gain their consent to invade Iraq. Trump doesn't bother with niceties like "consent".

My neighbor's parents are from Myanmar. In sounding him out he views the UN, the Geneva Convention, as all foisted on us by Europeans. He has no loyalty to Myanmar, but the he seems to think we are being weakened by allies, coalitions, and the rules based order. Europe really didn't help by not building up their forces and relying on the US, because we aren't reliable and I didn't see this coming that fast. I've been caught by surprise at how fast the guardrails went down.
