The two state solution was on the table in 1948, Israel accepted, the Palestinians did not.
Israel for a long time was still eager for the two states, living within secure borders and at peace will all of their neighbors. Hamas and other terrorist extremists caused so much abuse over the years, I don't blame Israel for trying something new and their cause is just. The ball is in the Palestinian courts who must agree that Israel has a right to exist. No real progress can be made without at least that foundation. Short of that, Israel will be overrun some day in the far distant future and then we will see what industrial-strength ethnic cleansing looks like.
