Don't "save" a flawed system that was designed to benefit the insurance industry. Replace it with a national heath program, funded by a VAT, so people aren't dependent on the good will of a "JC" to have medical insurance. Presto: the US saves $3T/year on health care, and the insurance company paper shufflers can go out and find a job that is actually productive.
You underscore the most important aspect of what faces us.
Restoration of the republic will mean more than simply returning to BT (Before Trump).
Biden even unwittingly gave us a name for the task ahead: “Build Back Better”, though that motto is probably freighted with too much baggage to be useful.
But there’s been so much damage, we really don’t have a choice but to build back “better” if we want to make it more difficult for the “few” to dictate terms to the “many”.
We foolishly thought we had a bulletproof system of checks and balances, of guardrails.
We didn’t.
