Subject: Re: Yes, there were inspections
... of out of state fire equipment. But no emissions testing. California routinely inspects - and repairs - out of state fire equipment that is responding to fires in the state. CA becomes responsible for the safety of the firefighters and general public when using these out of state resources. So they get a fairly quick inspection before heading out to the fire lines. As pointed out in the video below, this equipment generally doesn't travel hundreds of miles at once, so sometimes the travel uncovers problems that need to be addressed. The last thing firefighters want is their own equipment breaking down in the chaos of a wild fire response. Breakdowns put both the public and the firefighters at risk.

So how many out of state fire trucks were quarantined until inspected? Then the next relevant question is how many inspections resulted in some remedial action be performed before heading out to fight fires?

We need those numbers to know whether or not this inspection delay was worthwhile.
