Then bump a retirement age for higher skilled professionals.

This is fraught. Who determines what is a “higher skilled professional”? Is it someone who works on the factory floor? (My father was a research metallurgist, but spent most of his time in a steel mill.) An airline flight attendant who is on their feet all day?

The fights over this sort of classification system would be legendary. Gotta be a better way. I sort of like the way it is: actuarially neutral so far as the government coffers are concerned, voluntary age to begin collecting from the worker point of view. Should raise the minimum for taxation so SS escapes taxes at the low end; people with significant income in retirement or who choose to keep working can give a tax man a little.
