Subject: Re: Ross was using a well-worn tactic
Why does a VPN matter? Does LA Times block access from a VPN? How would they know?
What happens when you click on the LA Times link? I don't subscribe and I get no paywall myself:
Well, Ninjabytes was blocking Shrewdm, so I used Proton VPN and stopped getting blocked by Ninjabytes. But the archive that I use to get past paywalls seemed to take forever to open and most of the time "time out" when I wanted to read a blocked article when using the VPN. So I've now learned to disconnect the VPN when I want to use the archive, and when certain other delays/blockages happen and then turn it back on so I get access to Shrewdm. Without the VPN I can go into reader mode and get the remaining paragraphs to that story. I'm using VPN most of the time now because its automatic, but have learned how to shut it off and turn it back on. I'm typing now without the VPN and everything seems fine, so whatever triggered the Ninjabytes may be gone and I can go back to the normal old way. :) Hope that makes sense, and thanks. I would love to see that report about the 67 instances.
