Good for him. I don't really understand all of those people who hated him or called him a liar. I've read his stuff over time and I think he's a pretty talented growth investor who developed a lot of disciplined approaches for making investments where he cared about earning supported growth in valuation and not much else. He was willing to except a lot of volatility in order to get it, and maybe not everyone who followed him appreciated the risk of that, but it isn't like he tried to sell them on the idea that its a risk free approach. Its not a style of investing that I can do - it requires you to be really closely watching the underlying performance of the stocks you follow because you are running a highly concentrated portfolio of high flyers. So your ability to get out if signs look bad are your primary method of risk mitigation. Its growth investing, not value investing and feels really in stark contrast to what WEB would advocate. That may not be for a lot of people on this board but Saul was pretty generous with his analysis and time and he seemed like a good person. Kudos for him to retiring gracefully from that board.
