Subject: Re: Covid origin
<<I've only listened to the first 10 minutes or so so far. The conclusion presented seems to still be that we still don't know how the virus originated: either through a zoonotic spill-over with the help of a wet market, or through a lab leak. Is there anything more definitive determined by the end of the video?>>

You really need to listen to more than 10 minutes of a very careful 1.75 hour discussion. They need to open the scope at the beginning. But by the time you get to the end, it will be fairly evident as I wrote.

The summary is that it is likely that it was not from the market, but lab leaked, with the virus construction experiments initiated and funded by Washington. The sections added to the gene were not alterations (as mutations) but inserted additions as to make the gene longer (viewed when the gene is placed alongside natural viruses). Artificially modifying viruses (with an interest with the effects on humans) that start with animal based virus, was one of the stated goals of the research. But precisely the extra part of the COVID gene that was artificially added (Matt Ridley, 1 Dec 2022, "Viral: The Origin of Covid 19") which specifically made it highly dangerous to humans, also surfaced in US in leaked US discussions (referring particularly to the Furin Cleavage site insertion, which can be be reconciled by observing COVID itself having this feature standing out from all natural observed viruses) about the goals of the experiments.

The US research as the cause for how COVID appeared is far from being "proven without a doubt" however it can be proven conclusively with an investigation because much of the research takes place in the US (thus within the jurisdiction of the investigation) and doesn't require calling for documents to be released at the US backed Wuhan lab side. The documents within the US could be called, even without co-operation, if there was an investigation.

However investigations have been blocked, and there were many claims equivalent to "The chance of it coming from a lab is 0%". There are recent reports of an investigation intended to be launched, however. I am skeptical that investigations would not be obfuscated given the history of investigations involving state power.

[ When state war crimes are conducted, many US officers would be put in prison if trialled at the standard of the Nuremberg Trials, but such trials are only permitted for 'them' and not for 'us'. When our military hierarchy (including the participation of Australia and UK) kills hundreds of thousands of people purely for the chance to get some resources, and it doesn't go well and we don't get all the resource control as planned, it is never admitted as a "moral failure" but always as a "strategic failure". If some of the Nazi officers said that "Our killings were NOT immoral, but just the strategy failed" we would think they were crazy, but when we say it, there is little scrutiny. This is the phenomena of them-versus-us-moral-assymetry. ]

Moving back to COVID, the deception of the past is one thing, but the larger problem is that the US funded research is now continuing elsewhere where the cameras have moved away from.

Without scrutiny, it will of course happen again at some point, even if that is as far as numerous decades into the future. We were very fortunate that the last pandemic had a high transmissibility + (relatively) low virility. The next experiment can have both high transmissibility (for example 100% of the population) and very high virility (for example, certain death delayed over 7 years).
