They'd have to sail through the Strait to get into the gulf. Not sure how safe that would be. Do we have any ships in the gulf?

I am not sure the USN has any warships in the Gulf at this time.

Remember "Operation Eagle Claw", the aborted Tehran hostage rescue mission?

Location of the Nimitz at the time the helos took off, according to the net sifter.

On April 24, 1980, when Operation Eagle Claw was launched, the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) was stationed in the Arabian Sea. The carrier was operating approximately 60 miles off the coast of Iran, near the approaches to the Strait of Hormuz, to launch the RH-53D Sea Stallion helicopters for the rescue mission

The net sifter says the distance from the Strait to Kharg is 300-400 miles, less than half the distance to Tehran. A V-22 has a range of about 1000 miles, and a CH-53 has a range of just over 400 miles. If the objective is to occupy a couple islands in the Strait, aircraft range is not an issue.

You saw Trump the Conqueror's latest delusion, that he could share control of the strait? I can't see God on Earth, Trump the Magnificent sharing anything with anyone.

Donald Trump says Strait of Hormuz might be jointly controlled by him 'and the Ayatollah’

Trump on Monday announced a five-day postponement of strikes in the conflict that stems from US-Israeli strikes on Iran that has killed over 2,000 people.
