Are you surprised? Evidently you are? The USA is much larger than any single European nation, more people, bigger economy. As a percentage of GDP, Europe (pick almost any country...Poland...France...Germany...) is contributing far more than the USA.

France, UK, Spain, Italy - who will take America's place?

No one really can. We're too big, and too strong. It's a tragedy that some people are even asking that question.
