Steve203: Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) wants the US to press on with full "regime change".
Wasserman Schultz has sponsored or co-sponsored legislation related to Venezuela for some time: the VOICE Act, to impose sanctions on officials in the Maduro government responsible for banning opposition candidates and undermining elections; the REVOCAR Act to block U.S. transactions with Venezuela’s state oil company that provide revenue to the Maduro regime; AFFECT legislation, to direct U.S. support for multilateral human rights investigations and accountability efforts concerning the Maduro government’s abuses; the Venezuela TPS Act of 2025, to designate Venezuela for Temporary Protected Status; the he Venezuelan Adjustment Act, to create a legal pathway for certain Venezuelan nationals in the U.S. to become lawful permanent residents; and the VALOR Act, to set U.S. policy to support democratic benchmarks for Venezuela, maintain sanctions until democracy is restored, and authorize support for human rights monitors and election observers.
About 45% of her district are Hispanic, with about 5% Venezuelan. So while she's called for regime change through sanctions and other forms of pressure -- and she, like many others in her district, are happy to see Maduro gone -- I haven't seen her voice support for the 'invasion'. Since albaby1 lives in Florida, he likely has a more informed perspective.
