Totally agree.

If I were an impending high school grad, I'd cross off military service from my list of options. (And I enlisted right out of high school over 40 years ago. I got lucky, serving "in between wars", as it happens.) At this point in history, leadership is so dysfunctional that my life could be thrown away for nothing. Like creating an unnecessary dust-up with Iran, which is now remotely attacking random bases within their reach. Or kidnapping a foreign leader for no reason. And we have at least three more years of this MAGA lunacy (who knows what MAGA will do in 2028 if they win again).

Yeah. Don't throw away your life. Don't enlist until we get competent leadership that doesn't regard you as cannon fodder.
